Dear Colleagues,

Please join me in sending gratitude and congratulations to our very own Cory Vu, Associate Vice Chancellor of Health, Wellness and Divisional Resources as he embarks on a new professional journey at UC Berkeley. Cory will serve as their Associate Vice Chancellor of Health and Wellbeing effective July 1. 

I want to extend my appreciation to Cory for his dedication, leadership and tremendous contributions to UC Davis. In the past 13 years, Cory has been a champion and advocate for staff and students, demonstrating unwavering commitment to our campus and division. His units include Student Health and Counseling Services, Student Disability Center, Campus Recreation, Bookstore, Budget and Finance, Human Resources, Staff Coaching and Professional Development, Information Technology and Student and Community Safety. 

Cory has made a long-lasting impact, from serving as our Chief Wellbeing Officer, being the  founding co-chair of Postvention, chairing the mental health taskforce, to overseeing significant responsibility in budget and finance, and human resources. No matter how large the task, Cory has always led with compassion and integrity. 

While many of us will miss Cory, I am grateful that he has set up our division to thrive, equipped with the structures, initiatives and people whom he has developed and inspired. Cory has offered graciously to work with us until June 15. In the next couple of months, we will collaborate and partner with his team to develop plans for transition and longer-term divisional needs. I look forward to working with our colleagues across the division on this next chapter, and I thank them in advance for their trust and engagement. 

We will work with Cory to identify his sendoff preferences so that we can honor and celebrate his legacy to our division. In the meantime, he asked that we share this message: 

The decision to leave the campus that I love and all those who have touched my life in the last 12+ years at UC Davis was incredibly difficult. Ultimately, after graduating from UC Berkeley in 1994, the opportunity to return to a familiar campus 30 years later and to use that stage to possibly make an impact and a difference in the health and wellbeing of the entire campus was what spoke loudest to my heart and soul at this time. I would like to sincerely thank our VCSA Pablo Reguerin, the Vice Chancellor’s Council, my exceptional leadership team, and everyone in the division and campus who has supported me during my time at UC Davis. I will very much miss my UC Davis family."
