Chief Financial Officer
Monica is the Chief Financial Officer for the Division of Student Affairs. She joined UC Davis in 2013 and has over 30 years of experience in budget, accounting, finance, and analytics. Her oversight includes business and financial services, budget, financial reporting and analytics, divisional grant management, capital planning, debt management and long-term planning. She advises Student Affairs divisional leadership and the Vice Chancellor on financial strategy, helping guide the divisions short- and long-term decision making.
For the first 15 years of her career, Monica worked in commercial and corporate banking as an Assistant Vice President of Budget & Finance. When she first started her finance career, she was still attending college and was fortunate to have a mentor who saw her potential. Monica pays forward this opportunity by mentoring, which is one of the most rewarding aspects of her role. She worked as a Director in K-12 education in a business and finance capacity before accepting a position at UC Davis. She volunteered on the Board of a non-profit school in the Tenderloin area of San Francisco. Working and volunteering within education solidified her passion to use her expertise to support students and their educational opportunities. She views her role as being a steward on behalf of the students at the university, ensuring their dollars are used to benefit their college experience and future opportunities
